Biography[]

Early Life[]

Seth was born to James Morgan and Linda Morgan. He was raised in Huntsdale, Pennsylvania for the entirety of his life, though his father often left for long periods of time due to his position in the United States Marine Corp. It has been mentioned multiple times that Seth feels he raised himself due to his mother working long shifts at Crow's Nest where she would allow him to do as he pleased. Once he was of age, both of his parents began traveling, thus leaving him to live on his own. Seth used the money he had saved over the years to buy several train cars which he converted into his personal sanctuary.

In Wicked Lovely, Seth greets his best friend, Aislinn Foy, when she arrives at his home. They go inside and share a cup of tea together, but after a short while Seth realizes that she is acting weird and demands answers. Aislinn is initially hesitant to tell him. She slowly reveals that she is being stalked by faeries that he cannot see though and, after a few questions about the creatures, he assures Aislinn that he believes her stories. Over the next few weeks, Seth continues to conduct research about all things related to faeries, though he is unable to find much more information that then previously possessed. He does take note that some herbs may grant him Sight and, with his growing awareness of invisible faeries, he seemingly reacts to some of their teasings. Seth returns home one day to find a frantic Aislinn waiting outside and, once he has calmed her down, Seth confesses that he has not been seeing anyone for seven months with the hopes that she would stop running away from him. The two share their first kiss and he promises to keep her safe.

Donia arrives at his home several weeks later and asks the pair to visit her home as she wants to provide them with the tools necessary to defend themselves against the faery courts. It is at her home that Donia provides Aislinn with a warning of the events to come as well as a recipe that will grant Seth with Sight. She asks that they do not share this information with anyone, fae or otherwise, as providing a human with such a gift when not a regent could result in the death of the faerie in question. They agree to her terms and, shortly thereafter, Seth begins developing the ability to see vague outlines of the fae.

The importance of Seth in relation to Aislinn in realized by the Winter Queen, Beira, and, fearing the rapidly growing power of the Summer Court, she decides to strike at the ones they love. He is kidnapped by Beira herself and tortured over several hours. It is upon the arrival of Donia that Seth gains the strength necessary to fight Beira and, in attempt to free both himself and Donia, he stabs her in the neck with an iron cross. This does nothing aside from infuriate Beira and thus she continues his torture by ripping his abdomen open. Aislinn and Keenan arrive before he can be killed and eliminate Beira with their newly combined powers. Seth is taken away by several healers from the Summer Court and, eventually, recovers from his injuries.

Ink Exchange[]

Main Article: Ink Exchange

In Ink Exchange, Seth arrives at Pins and Needles where he finds Aislinn Foy talking to her best friend, Leslie. The group decide to move onto the next location, but along the way they are interrupted by the Summer King, Keenan, who insists that he needs to speak with Aislinn in private. Aislinn agrees to leave the group on the condition that Leslie not be left alone, thus Seth volunteers to take her to Rath and Ruins along with Niall. The trio spend some time at the club before being forced to depart due to the interest of the dark fae in Leslie, specifically the Dark King, Irial.

Seth takes Leslie to his home since he knows she will be safe there due to the high amount of iron and steel. While there, he confesses that both he and Aislinn are aware of the atrocities that her brother, Ren, inflicted upon her. This information startles Leslie as she had thought the information was fairly private, but Seth says that they knew almost immediately and are both worried about her safety. He offers Leslie his home for her personal use whenever she feels the need and allows her to rest in his room with the door locked - if only to reassure her that she is safe.

It is several days later when Seth confronts Leslie with Niall, they angered at the newly discovered ink exchange Irial had inflicted upon her. They do not blame her for the situation, but are unable to assist as she belongs to the Dark Court. Seth offers her advise to survive and informs her that a solution will be found. He does not see her again until Niall has severed the ink exchange with the assistance of the Summer Court and Winter Court. It is then that he tells the recovering Leslie he is proud of her.

Fragile Eternity[]

Main Article: Fragile Eternity

In Fragile Eternity, Seth arrives at Crow's Nest to find Niall lounging around. As the pair never had a chance to properly converse due to unforeseen interruptions the previous day, they decide to play a few rounds of darts. It is towards the end of their third game that the regents of the Summer Court arrive. Niall decides this is an opportune time to test boundaries and he does so by tormenting Keenan about his inability, or unwillingness, to protect Seth on behalf of Aislinn Foy. In an unseen turn of events, Niall offers the protection of the Dark Court to Seth which he accepts, though rather than sealing the vow in the blood of Seth, he does so with the blood of Keenan by punching him in the face and knocking him unconscious. Aislinn reacts negatively to this and attempts to confront Niall, but instead ends up trapped in a cage of shadows. Seth is angered by this and confronts Niall once Aislinn has been released. Niall only states that his actions were necessary to remind her of the fragility of the situation.

In the upcoming weeks, Seth spends more time with Aislinn and plans several dates, though she does not attend one which leaves him worried. He eventually finds Aislinn in the Summer Court having been injured by Winter Queen, Donia, and subsequently healed by Keenan. The thought of him being unable to protect Aislinn causes him to worry further and, when she informs him that Keenan refuses to assist her in transforming him to a faerie, Seth abruptly departs. An approach by Bananach, whom he had previously seen skirmishing with other fae, provides him with the opportunity to have audience with the High Queen, Sorcha, whom is the only person that can assist him in his endeavor. The offer is one which Seth is reluctant to accept as he knows Bananach does not have pure intentions, but he feels it is his only chance. Seth accepts her assistance with the condition that he not be harmed and, in less than a blink, he is thrown into the Realm of Faerie. Sorcha, although curious of the human, is not quick to grant him any favors and states that she will consider his request to become fae before having the High Advisor, Devlin, remove him from her presence.

It is not until six days later that Seth is summoned by Sorcha with a proposition, she agreeing to allow him the opportunity to become fae on the condition that he return to her for one month each year. It is a simple offer and one that Seth doubts lacks strings, but he accepts and falls into blissful unconsciousness as his transformation begins. His awakening marks his twelfth day in the Realm of Faerie and, knowing he has only but a little more than two weeks left in her presence, they spend their time together as he adjusts to his newly gained abilities. The pair speak of art, philosophy, and music while creating beautiful masterpieces. Seth remarks that he is truly at ease. At one point, Niall visits the pair and attempts to convince Seth to return to the mortal realm, though his apathy towards his friend quickly turns to mild disgust over the new resolve Seth has for the High Queen. At the end of his month, Sorcha finally admits to her trickery in their offer that one month in the Realm of Faerie is equal to that of six months in the mortal realm. Seth is unhappy with this revelation, but does not hold it against her as he realize she truly loves him. Sorcha escorts Seth to the border between the realms once his time in the Realm of Faerie has come to an end and, with their final farewells, she swears that she will protect him against any threat.

His return to the mortal realm is met with a mixture of emotions by all whom he encounters. The most prominent of them though is that of shock by Aislinn who was under the impression that he had abandoned her during his six month absence. This angers Seth as Keenan, who had begun courting Aislinn during this time, was aware that he was in the Realm of Faerie and kept it a secret from her. Seth feels he has no choice but to issue her an ultimatum: to love him entirely or end their relationship. He departs the Summer Court without her answer.

Old Habits[]

Main Article: Old Habits

In Old Habits, the Dark King, Niall, finds Seth lounging in Crow's Nest during the day. He sits with Seth and confesses that he called Leslie the previous day, something which makes Seth chuckle. He asks Niall if he asked her on a date and, while Niall denies the accusation, Seth insists that he admit he does not want to date her - Niall cannot as it would be a lie. The two fall into silence before Niall hands Seth a nondescript stone which the latter places on a chain. The stone prevents Seth from being affected by the charms of faeries, thus allowing himself to control is urges and make more rational decisions. Seth is grateful for the gift.

Radiant Shadows[]

Main Article: Radiant Shadows

In Radiant Shadows, Seth arrives at Crow's Nest and is informed that his Devlin, his newly appointed brother, is requesting his presence. He searches for Devlin in the crowds and eventually finds him with the Ani. This angers Seth as he feels responsible for her safety and, with anger in his voice, he commands Devlin to leave. Devlin complies without argument, but does not travel far as a feeling of exhaustion suddenly washes over him. This confuses him as he had not done anything which would warrant such a reaction. He is quickly found by Seth who recognizes the effect which Ani has had on Devlin, she draining his energy to satisfy her hunger. Seth brings Devlin back to his home where he allows Devlin to rest, but not before providing him with supplies he will need for an unseen journey that only Seth is privy to.

The next few days are met with little excitement, but the sudden arrival of Bananach in Huntsdale, Pennsylvania proves an issue for not only the Dark Court - all who cross her path are in danger. Tish, the eldest daughter of Gabriel, is murdered by her in an effort to start chaos and Seth is summoned to Pins and Needles in the aftermath. It is here which Seth is informed the Realm of Faerie has begun to fall into disarray by Devlin and, knowing that the entire species is in danger, he prepares to travel back to the High Court. He is interrupted by the sudden arrival of Bananach though who proudly takes credit for the blood she has extracted from their loved ones. In the midst of the ensuing skirmish, Bananach fatally wounds Irial when he uses his body to shield another, she piercing his abdomen with two blades - one dripped in poison. He wishes to remain at their side and aid them in battle, but he is forced to retreat to the Realm of Faerie with Ani and Devlin.

In the Realm of Faerie, Sorcha awakens from her status to greet Seth, thus restoring the realm to its former glory. Seth is present when Devlin declares himself the regent of the newly formed Shadow Court, he quelling Sorcha by insisting that it is logical and orderly to have balance within her realm. Sorcha reluctantly agrees with him and the pair return to the High Court with Seth agreeing that it is time to seal the veil between the realms.

Darkest Mercy[]

Main Article: Darkest Mercy

In Darkest Mercy, Seth returns to the mortal realm to discover that Bananach has begun to torment the faery courts, she placing emphasis on the regents. Keenan is her first target as she believes him the weakest of the remaining, but she is unable to completely maim him due to Seth intervening. He quickly sends Keenan to the Summer Court based upon the threads he has witness and relays this information to Keenan, thus revealing that he is able to see the threads of the future. Keenan, although disgusted at the new debt has acquired, agrees and departs immediately. It is only upon the departure of Bananach that Seth travels to the Dark Court. His arrival brings with it the revelation that Niall has become fractured over the death of Irial, he harming dark fae in a fractured haze. Seth attempts to confront him, but Niall simply claims that he will not harm Seth. This confuses him as he did not say anything about fearing Niall and, lost in his own mind, Niall confuses that he can taste emotions. Seth quickly realizes that there is no reasoning with him and, upon receiving permission to control the dark fae for a single minute, he orders Eliza to render Niall unconscious so that he may rest. The awakening of Niall is met with fury as he realizes the actions Seth had completed and, despite him insisting that there is a way to kill Bananach, Niall refuses to listen. His mind is further fractured when Seth reveals that he can see the threads of the future and that he knew Irial would die. Niall, filled with the full rage of the Dark Court, sentences Seth to imprisonment until further notice.

It is several days later when Niall confronts Seth regarding his role in the death of Irial, he completely convinced that the human-turned-fae is directly responsible for the events. Seth attempts to convince him that Bananach is the only one responsible for the death, but Niall is unwilling to reason. He goes as far as to attempt to blind Seth with a hot iron and is, fortunately, unable to do so as he is interrupted by the arrival of Leslie whom was summoned by a hound. She acts as though the scene is entirely normal and convinces Niall to return with her to the Dark Court, thus leaving Seth plunged in darkness and pain. Seth spends the next few hours resting until Bananach arrives within the warehouse he is being held captive, she declaring herself the Dark Queen and promising war upon the faery courts. It is only then which Seth realizes a balance is needed within the mortal realm for the Dark Court and so, in the shadows of her reign, Seth declares himself equal to Niall in the hopes that it will restore his sanity.

Seth is amongst those who are present in the warehouse of the Dark Court when Bananach has declared herself the Dark Queen, she eliciting chaos on her own given that the regents of the faery courts refuse to do so. He is unaware of the battle that occurs though as his cage is surrounded by an impenetrable barrier of shadow to keep him safe. It is only when she has been defeated that Aislinn retrieves him and, upon returning to the Summer Court, she declares that as the only regent of the Summer Court, her happiness is important to the summer faeries - and Seth is whom makes her happy. The pair happily chase each other through the maze of vines and enjoy the time they now have together.

Unexpected Family[]

Main Article: Unexpected Family

In Unexpected Family, Seth returns home from the Realm of Faerie to discover that his parents have sent him a letter stating that they had an emergency and desperately needed his assistance. He is hesitate to answer their letter because of their past, but eventually decides that he needs to seek them out to ensure their safety. Unfortunately, his parents are currently in an undisclosed campground in California which is several states away from his current residence in Pennsylvania. His fear of flying leaves few options and, knowing that he will need a companion, Seth sets out to the Summer Court to tell his girlfriend, Aislinn Foy, he will be departing in the next few hours. Aislinn offers the company of Tavish or one of the Summer Girls, but Seth declines the offer and states that he will be taking Niall with him.

Seth and Niall utilize a steed from the Dark Court as their mode of transportation, it taking the form of a vehicle with very particular taste in music. It is during this journey that the pair finally discuss the "eye thing" that occurred a few months prior in which Niall attempted to remove Seth's eyes with a hot fire poker due to the latter withholding information regarding the death of Irial. Niall apologizes for his behavior and Seth seemingly accepts, though he is still unsure about the situation. The two eventually reach an agreement where Niall will never attack or imprison Seth again in exchange for Seth alerting Niall to the death of Irial or Leslie should he foresee it in his visions.

It takes several days for them to arrive at their destination and, when they do, the pair immediately begins the journey to the campgrounds where James Morgan and Linda Morgan are staying. Upon their arrival, Linda greets them enthusiastically with James offering a slightly colder greeting and, wanting to know the reason behind their letter, Seth begins questioning them. He learns that James and Linda were at a protests and were arrested with a fine, but their story does not add up as they are now being held at the campsite by a group of campers who lurk in the forest. Niall offers to "check the perimeter" in front of the humans, but in reality leaves to question the fae who have been holding Seth's parents hostage.

Niall returns a short time later and, with him, are a hoard of solitary faeries. They demand an audience with Seth and, in an effort to free his parents, he grants it. Seth learns that he unintentionally made himself the Solitary King by declaring himself the balance to Niall, thus they wanted an audience with their new regent. They don human glamours and go to greet Seth, who accepts the role as their protector, but claims to not be their king. During the negotiations between Seth and the faeries, he had subconsciously manifested a cage around James and Linda. This confuses them further and, as soon as he has returned, they begin demanding answers from their son. Seth reluctantly reveals the world of faeries and grants them Sight. The pair is quickly accepting of the faeries, including their newly transformed son, much to his relief.

Physical Appearance[]

Seth is often described as intimidating due to the numerous piercings and tattoos that decorate his skin, though his six foot stature does nothing to aid in this aura. He has several bars through his eyebrows and a ring in his lower lip, the latter of which he has a tendency to "poke at" as a means of nervous gesture. His hair is naturally a dark obsidian with streaks of blue decorated throughout. It is rather long in length and falls over his face in a stereotypical fashion from the early 2010s known as the "emo music subculture" with jagged, eye-covering, bangs. He has bright green eyes that become brighter upon his transition to a faerie, though he maintains the use of reading glasses no matter his species.

As a human, Seth is thought of as being fit with obvious muscle definition through his clothes, though he maintains a lanky overall appearance due to his height. the definition is his body, along with his angular features, become more pronounced upon transitioning to that of a faerie. He favors black nail polish and shirts with skinny jeans and metal chains for decoration.

Personality[]

Seth is someone who appears calm in nearly any situation, no matter the implied danger which may lie ahead. It is implied that this attitude developed as a mixture of a multitude of items from his childhood, but most notably that of him being required to raise himself for many years. This allows him to hide his true feelings in many situations though and remain calm when confronted with information which conflicts with his nature inclinations such as when Aislinn Foy insisted that she could see invisible faeries. In addition to this, Seth is extremely knowledgeable as evidenced by his general language and, later, his ability to locate information which even the most adept are unable to find. His taste in art, music, and philosophy ranges widely with him enjoying anything from Chaucer, Dunkle, Nietzsche to Dresden Dolls, Godsmack, Rachmaninoff, and Sugarcult. This allows him to bond with Sorcha when in the Realm of Faerie when most believe she will simply grow bored of his "modern attitude and style".

Seth, in terms of relationships, is someone who initially is not interested in a committed lifestyle. He is known for having a multitude of women lie in his bed including Damali, but upon falling in love with Aislinn, he changes his tendencies and becomes completely monogamous. He is dedicated to her in every way and even expresses that he would not be upset in the instance she chose to take a lover to satisfy her needs while he is away in the Realm of Faerie, although he himself would remain devoted to her. He may be loyal to a fault in this means as he blindly trusts all those whom he considers family, although it could also be his visions of the future which lead him to be so confident in his decisions.

Abilities[]

Seth is considered one of the most powerful faeries due to his possession of the essence of an original faerie. He, therefore, possesses the strengths and weaknesses that are seen in their species with enhancements unlike the rest. He has increases agility, endurance, healing, senses, speed, and strength which makes him a threat to all creatures - his powers greater than even the regents of the faery courts. In addition to this, Seth is invisible to mortals unless she dons a glamor, an image which makes her appear "normal" to humans. These abilities are only retained when in the mortal realm though for, while in the Realm of Faerie, Seth is mortal.

Precognition[]

Seth possess the ability to view events from the future, though his visions are limited to the threads which are not directly tied to his own. He is unable to see the future of Aislinn Foy and Sorcha, though is able to see events that vaguely effect Niall when Seth is not in his immediate vicinity. This is evidenced in Darkest Mercy when Seth is able to foresee the death of Irial despite the fact that he was present when Irial was fatally wounded by Bananach.

Realitokinesis[]

Seth possesses the ability to alter reality, specifically that of the mortal realm. This ability is not realized until Unexpected Family when Seth inadvertently manifests a cage around his parents, thus protecting them from Solitary with unknown intentions. This revelation shocks him as he had no inclination that he possessed such powers, but Niall is unfazed and merely explains that this is a result of him being made with the essence of the High Queen, Sorcha.

Relationships[]

Aislinn Foy[]

The relationship between Aislinn Foy and Seth predates the titular novel, Wicked Lovely, though at this time they are merely friends. They spent a large portion of their days together until Seth graduated from Bishop O’Connell High School, at which time their outings became limited to their extracurricular activities. The pair pined over each other during a large portion of this time, though neither acted on their emotions. It was not until Aislinn admitted to her vision of faeries that the two realized they were in love and, within a few weeks, the two began dating. The two remain deducted to each other despite outside sources which threatened their relationship and, though they experienced hardships, they continued to remain together. Seth became a faerie for Aislinn alone, he wishing to spend the rest of eternity at her side.

Devlin[]

Devlin and Seth have a tenuous relationship as neither particularly care for the other. Devlin initially believes that Seth is a replacement for him in the eyes of his mother-sister, Sorcha, and even offers to kill him to prevent Sorcha any pain upon his departure from the Realm of Faerie. It is not until several months later that Devlin begins to respect him in a way, he allowing Seth to take his place as the High Advisor. It is unknown if the pair come to a better understanding of their position in the space of time between Darkest Mercy and Dark Sun, though it is implied that they are friendly with one another as Devlin is the key to allowing Seth to return to the Realm of Faerie.

Niall[]

The relationship between Niall and Seth is somewhat familiar as the two are chosen brethren. The pair began developing a friendship shortly after Aislinn Foy ascended to the throne of the Summer Court and, with each holding respect towards the other for various reasons, they quickly decided they were meant to communicate in one way or another. Seth has no issues with Niall when he becomes the Dark King and even accepts his vow of protection from the Dark Court - even though it draws concern from his girlfriend, Aislinn. The only instance in which the two are seen as angry with the other is when Niall attempts to blind Seth with a hot iron for lack of information regarding the death of Irial, though this too passes once Seth realizes the insanity from a lack of balance in the mortal realm has caused his actions. Seth has permission to walk through the Dark Court without pause and, when The Hunt is sworn to him, they as well. Niall has willingly stated that he would do anything to protect Seth given if did not endanger his own mates.

Sorcha[]

Sorcha and Seth have a relationship that borders upon obsessive, though its foundation is that of pure adoration. Sorcha believes Seth to be her child in every way possible despite not being his biological mother and, it is because of this that she would do anything to keep him safe. Her love for him outweighs all else to the point that she nearly destroyed the Realm of Faerie in her attempt to keep him in her sights. Seth shares the same level of devotion for Sorcha and regularly defends her against even his closest of friends, he remarking to Niall that he truly cares for her as a person - not because she is his queen. There are many who find their relationship unsettling and yet, neither of them seem to care.

Etymology[]

Seth Morgan is one of the few characters to have a designated surname in the series. The surname, Morgan, is Celtic in origin, arising from the ancient Britons of Wales. It comes from the Old Welsh personal name Morcant, composed of the Welsh elements mor" meaning "sea," and can't meaning "circle." The name Seth has biblical origins as he was the third son of Adam and Eve. It means "appointed" or "dazzle."
